On-line monitoring of PTA production

On-line Monitoring of PTA Production

Petrochemical industry

Purified terephthalic acid (PTA), the main intermediate material for polyethylene terepthalate (PET) resins, is generally produced by the oxidation of para-xylene to crude terephthalic acid catalyzed by a.o. Cobalt and Manganese salts in acetic acid. The crude TA is then purified to obtain the PTA.

The PTA on-line analyzer system assures process control and safety in the PTA production process.  Energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) is used to determine on-line the critical catalysts. PTA reactor safety is guaranteed at all times by means of oxygen detection systems. All systems are installed in an insulated corrosion resistant shelter.

The PTA on-line analyzer system easily and efficiently performs on-line analysis of the critical parameters in the PTA production process.  Enhanced recovery, reduced catalyst usage and improved product quality are the benefits. Versatility and flexibility combined with its many built-in features make it easy to install and operate. Additionally, excellent analytical stability is obtained.
