Renewable energy
Monitoring renewable energy production or afiliated processes within this area is a relatively new market, for which AppliTek designs and manufactures dedicated analyzer equipment. More than ever renewable energy leads to sustainable business. Resources as well as energy management can effectively be controlled and enhanced by on-line monitoring. As this market is still in steep progress, AppliTek is keeping the finger on the pulse for new analytical developments.
Biomass
AppliTek's solutions in this field concentrate on the process efficiency of anaerobic digesters. Many existing digesters give unnecessary problems, which arise due to inadequacies in the process or process control system. AppliTek has developed a unique instrument to measure and control the key processes in the anaerobic fermentation. Compact gas analyzers with proprietary technology can be implemented to check the biogas yield.
Parameters: Volatile Fatty Acids - Alkalinity - pH - Bicarbonate
Gas parameters: CH4 - CO2 - O2 - H2S

Biofuels
AppliTek has already developed the necessary tools to measure and control on-line the production, in case the futur is in favour of biofuels. For biodiesel, the following quality indices should be monitored, on order to comply with international legislation on biofuel QC:
Free fatty acids - Calcium & Magnesium - Total Phosphorus - Potassium - Moisture (water content)

Solar thermal energy - Photovoltaics (PV)
In the earlier days, the chemistry involved in solar cell manufacturing was relatively simple, using commodity chemicals. With cell efficiencies continuously on the rise and new cell concepts slowly being introduced with increased speed of processing, precise chemical concentration control is becoming crucial to obtain consistency and more cost-effective manufacturing of solar panels. This is possible by monitoring on-line the etching bath composition, a small but genuine step forward in your competitive advantage.
Typical parameters: NaOH – Si – HF – HNO3
